"EXPLORING VULNERABILITY" CHRISTY LEE IS DOING A TALK WITH THE ROYAL PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

“Harmony” from the Muses Collection

The Royal Photographic Society Contemporary Group is about photography which can and often does cross all conventional genres. Emphasis is put on photography based on expressing ideas; on meaning and purpose, with sets of images to a theme rather than individual stand-alone photographs.

CHRISTY LEE ROGERS DONATES "TENDERNESS" PRINT TO HOUSTON CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY MUSEUM AUCTION

On March 2nd, 2023, Houston Center for Photography will host its most important fundraiser of the year, the annual Print Auction. With bidders from all over the world, HCP’s Print Auction is one of the leading non-profit photography auctions in the country. https://hcponline.org

Donations will have a direct impact on their ambitious and rapidly expanding community education programs, including:

  • Work with several Houston area school districts through the Collaborations after-school program, developing high school students’ creative and professional skills as well as encouraging cooperation and teamwork across socioeconomic lines

  • Unique educational experiences like the Flash Drive: a repurposed ambulance turned camera obscura on wheels that teaches children the history and science of optics and the development of the camera as we know it today.

  • Free photography workshops in public parks, including Levy Park and City Place, which provide access to photography education and increase communities’ understanding and appreciation of photography—central to HCP’s mission.

  • HCP’s Picture This! program, which brings therapeutic arts education to children receiving intensive medical treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital.
